Superdry Gets Takeover Approach From CEO -- Update [MarketWatch]

The British clothing brand--which issued a surprise profit warning in December that sent its shares tumbling--said Friday that Dunkerton is in talks with potential financing partners over a possible offer, but that these are at a preliminary stage and no decisions have been made. Advertisement Superdry has formed an independent committee to consider Dunkerton's request and provided limited information to him and the potential sponsors toward any potential offer, it said. Dunkerton currently owns around 20.5% of the company's issued share capital, according to FactSet. Shares at 1249 GMT are up 21.85 pence at 43.0 pence, having peaked at 53.21 pence before the announcement was made. However, shares are currently down 67% over the past 12 months and well below their IPO price of 500 pence in March 2010.
