Chief executive Julian Dunkerton is "exploring the possibility of making an offer for the company and to commence discussions with potential sources of finance", the group said in a statement. The news sent its share price rocketing 105 percent to 43.50 pence in early afternoon deals on the London stock market. Dunkerton is "engaged in discussions with potential financing partners for the purposes of considering options in respect of the company, which may include a possible cash offer," the statement added. "These discussions are at a preliminary stage and no decisions have been made." Takeover speculation began swirling Wednesday after the firm announced that Norwegian investment fund First Seagull had acquired a 5.3-percent stake.
