The fund would be one of the largest of its kind ever assembled, rivaling SoftBank's Vision Fund in scale. Bezos has spent recent months meeting with major asset managers to secure backing, including trips to the Middle East, where he pitched sovereign wealth funds, and to Singapore. Talks are still at a preliminary stage, according to people familiar with the matter cited by the Journal The move marks a major escalation of Bezos' ambitions in industrial AI and his most significant operational bet since stepping down as Amazon ( AMZN ) chief executive in 2021.
