at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, two days after the Apple Valley High School walkout, which amassed hundreds of students. Oak Hills junior Carissa Baltazar is responsible for rounding support for the Feb. 13 demonstration. President and founder of the Student Impact Club on campus, she told the Daily Press that the event is more about empowering the voices of the youth than taking a political stand. Baltazar, who plans to major in political science or pre-law after she graduates, was inspired by the messy, impromptu walkout students at Oak Hills High School staged during the first week of February. Administrators were hesitant to let students back on campus and threatened to revoke prom privileges, she said, because participating students failed to inform the administration of their plans to demonstrate.
