Now seven years after its acquisition, we caught up with the brewery to see how things are going and what its plans are for the future. “I think the announcement shook things up a lot,” Ryan Guthy, co-founder of Wicked Weed tells Forbes. He says that shortly after the announcement there was a lot of speculation that the acquisition would impact the quality of the brand's beer or its staff. “I would say there was a lot of noise for a year,” Guthy says. “In the last two or three years I think it's pretty much faded away.” Shortly after the acquisition, the brand found itself uninvited to a number of craft beer festivals; however, Guthy says that now they're seeing invitations once again to join those festivals, something he attributes to them seeing that the brand's mission is to elevate craft beer rather than cash out.
