Why Brands (Like Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams) Are Leaning Into Branded Merchandise Wearing a logo is an easy way for people to communicate a message to others. It says, “I’m a fan of this brand” or, “I support this.” More brands are capitalizing on this opportunity these days—and that extends well beyond the realm of apparel-focused companies. Go into a Tesla store and you’ll be able to buy branded Tesla apparel. Fans of cooler brand YETI can buy t-shirts and sweatshirts with the brand’s logo emblazoned on it. In step with this trend, artisan ice cream maker Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams So far, the move is paying off, as the past year has been one of dramatic growth for when it comes to branded merchandise. Sales are up 48% overall compared to last year, while two of the brand’s shops in Columbus, Ohio (where the company was founded and initially launched) have merch sales that are up more than 75% from last year.
