Allegiant and Sun Country serve Appleton International Airport and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with a focus on vacation flights. Sun Country also offers seasonal flights from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport to Cancun, Fort Myers and Orlando. Minneapolis-St. Paul will continue to serve as a "key anchor city" after the merger, Allegiant said in a press release. Sun Country said travelers can continue to book flights as normal, and there are no planned changes to current routes. The two low-cost airlines will price tickets separately until the merger is complete, it added. Allegiant CEO Gregory Anderson said in a statement the merger will expand the airlines' "reach to more vacation destinations including international locations." The move comes as budget airlines are feeling increasingly squeezed by rising costs and competition from full-service carriers like Delta and United.
