Fin avril, une autre agence de notation, Fitch Ratings, avait abaissé sa note d'un cran, à "AA-", en évoquant notamment un contexte politique et social susceptible de compliquer la réduction des dépenses publiques. Bruno Le Maire avait alors regretté "l'appréciation pessimiste de Fitch". Interrogé par le JDD après la décision de S&P Global, le ministre de l'Economie et des Finances s'est félicité d'un "signal positif", estimant que la stratégie française en matière de finances publiques est "claire", "ambitieuse" et "crédible". Bruno Le Maire, qui a eu récemment des " discussions très étroites" avec les analystes de S&P selon Elisabeth Borne, a réaffirmé au JDD l'objectif fixé en avril dernier, dans le programme de stabilité adressé à l'Union européenne, de ramener le déficit à moins de 3% du PIB en 2027 et la dette à 108% du PIB à la même date.
