The layoffs will be taking place at Takeda Pharmaceuticals' United States headquarters at 500 Kendall St., Cambridge and will go into effect beginning July 1 but could extend into 2027, according to a Massachusetts Workers Adjustment Retraining Notice filed with the state on March 25. On the same day the notice was filed, Japan-based Takeda announced cost-cutting measures that it said would save the equivalent of roughly $1.2 billion in U.S. currency by 2028. “Today, Takeda is setting the stage to make a greater impact on the lives of patients as we prepare to launch multiple new medicines and continue to deliver on the promise of our pipeline,” CEO-Elect Julie Kim said in a news release. “The deliberate steps we are taking will strengthen our ability to execute with speed while strategically prioritizing resources and positioning ourselves for long-term growth and success in the next era.” In addition to the Massachusetts employees, the company expects to lay off 387 people in
