A decade ago, James Watt and his intrepid band of brewers were riding high after their craft beer brand BrewDog had upended the drinks industry. The Scottish group, known for its outlandish marketing, had left multinational brewers looking warily over their shoulder, with Watt's pioneering approach threatening to reshape the lager-dominant beer world. Such was his confidence that he was able to openly bait would-be acquirers. “Bigger companies want to buy BrewDog. Go away, silly big companies. BrewDog is not for sale, especially not to you,” he said on social media in 2016, earning him high praise from BrewDog fans.
