The supermarket chain, which has been struggling with falling sales, is understood to be ramping up expansion plans for its smaller store formats as it seeks to reach more shoppers within towns and city centres. As part of the push, the company plans to open 25 new convenience stores between the end of June and December this year, marking a major expansion for the grocer, which is best known as a large supermarket chain.
