The project involves gathering data on seabed conditions at locations designated for wind turbines and inter-array cables. This information will play a key role in planning turbine foundations and related infrastructure. Survey operations have commenced, with five vessels deployed by Fugro covering an area of around 200km² approximately 170km off the German coast. The campaign targets around 140 individual sites, reaching depths of up to 50m below the seabed. Fugro is deploying its SEACALF MkV cone penetration testing technology to collect data for both safety and operational purposes. Upon completion of the marine fieldwork, Fugro will conduct laboratory testing at its facilities in Wallingford, UK, and Louvain, Belgium. The company will provide geo-data using its VirGeo digital platform to support decisions regarding soil behaviour and design requirements for both turbine foundations and cable installation.
