The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped about 3%, bringing its five-day decline to nearly 9%. Memory chip makers saw some of the steepest declines, with Western Digital ( NASDAQ:WDC ) falling 5%, Micron Technology ( NASDAQ:MU ) and Seagate Technology ( NASDAQ:STX ) each sliding about 4%, and Sandisk ( NASDAQ:SNDK ) down nearly 3%.
