Toyota's operating profit rose 11%, bucking industry trends. Toyota Motor Corporation ( NYSE:TM ) said on Nov. 6 that its operating profit rose 11% in the quarter that ended on Sep. 30, on strong demand for profitable SUVs and an ongoing cost-cutting initiative.   Toyota earned an operating profit of 579.1 billion yen ($5.09 billion) on a 2.3% increase in revenue from the same period in 2017 , to 7.31 trillion yen ($64.3 billion).
