Airlines were expected to make a record $157 billion ancillary revenue in 2025 , according to industry consultancy IdeaWorksCompany. In a recent IdeaWorks analysis of airline revenue by ancillary type, IdeaWorks found that United Airlines earned $1.3 billion in seat fees and $1.2 billion in checked bags in 2023.
